Meet the IB-Green family: HLNUG

Hessian Agency for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology

In this new series called "Meet the IB-Green family", we will put the spotlight on different IB-Green project partners. We want to provide you with new insights, e.g. on why they chose to participate in this INTERREG project. For HLNUG, the Hessian Agency for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology, Dr. Anna-Christine Sander answered our questions:

What was the main reason that you decided to become a project partner for IB-Green? Climate change and its consequences do not stop at European borders. The problems facing Industrial and Business Parks are very similar across European countries and beyond. Yet the way in which challenges are met, varies from country to country, respectively from partner to partner. This is the very interesting part to learn – and possibly offers the opportunity to transfer solutions.

Describe your organization in three words: From knowledge to action (sorry 4 words)

How high do you think the potential and acceptance for blue and green infrastructure in your country is, and why? In theory, both the potential for blue & green infrastructure and the acceptance on planning and social scales are high. Rules, laws and standards however often inhibit realisation of measures – these have to be adapted accordingly.

What do you think is the most common misconception about climate change/climate adaptation that exists? The need of climate adaptation has nothing to do with ecological ideology. Humans need to adapt their way of life to climate change, as they want to secure and maintain their quality of life.

If you could compare IB-Green to an animal, what would the project be? An octopus: It has its finger in every pie and has a huge ability to solve problems. (high problem solving skills)
