Meet the IB-Green Family: Green Energy Park

The third IB-Green project meeting (18-20 June 2024) will take place in Mechelen (Belgium) and be hosted by our project partner "Green Energy Park". A good chance to get some insights from Danny De Wit, who is working as Project Manager at Green Energy Park.

What was the main reason that you decided to become a project partner for IB-Green? Global warming and more specifically heat stress is a "hot" topic. We, Green Energy Park, are concerned about the evolution of our planet and the impact on our well-being, privately and professionally.

Which activities/pilot action of another IB-Green project partner do you find interesting or do you think you can learn from the most? It is impossible to pick just one, this is what makes the project so interesting, we are pioneers, every project partner has their own insights and approach. We learn from each other by exchanging knowledge, methods, experiences and good practices.

If INTERREG NWE told you they would finance a successor project of IB-Green: What would it look like if you were lead partner? For a start, the current lead partner is doing a top job (editor's note: we did not ask GEP to write this!). The follow-up of the current project could be, building further on collected measurements, generating data and sharing knowledge. With these experiences we can focus on other IB sites and move faster, make even more progress because we can rely on the learnings of the current project.

Describe your organization in three words. Green Energy Park, that are 3 words 😊. Otherwise: Energy, climate & healthcare.

If you could compare IB-Green to an animal, what would the project be? A peacock. When a peacock shows its feathers, the colours green and blue come to life, but there is also an “eye” in each feather on the top that “look” at us so we do the right things to protect earth. Within some cultures, the peacock has the meaning of resurrection, like a phoenix. In other cultures, it’s the evil “eye”.

If you could choose to live in any North-West Europe country (or beyond the Interreg NWE territory), which would you choose and why? I hope Portugal is included 😊. I love the Algarve's rocky coast, the climate, the sea breeze, the sea food and the people.
