Tree planting – creating a green, cool, and ecological enhanced environment

measures have been implemented on the company premises of LEAR Corporation GmbH,
including tree planting and the creation of shaded outdoor spaces.
Description
In cooperation with the City of Remscheid, LEAR Corporation planted over 30 trees on its company premises.
These were placed along the entrance near parking areas, in peripheral zones, and on a larger green space that now features a traditional orchard. Adjacent to this orchard, a covered outdoor seating area was created for employees. This area is regularly used by staff for joint activities or simply to relax during breaks.
Extensively managed orchards can create species–rich habitats, offering a valuable refuge for insects, birds, and small mammals. As a multifunctional landscape element, they also preserve regional fruit varieties and cultural heritage while enhancing the visual and recreational quality of green spaces – even on company premises!

Implementation tips
- Use native and climate–resilient tree species to ensure long–term survival under changing conditions.
- Prefer large-canopy trees where space allows, as they provide more effective shading and cooling.
- Combine trees with flowering meadows to boost biodiversity and reduce maintenance.
- Involve employees or local communities in planting or care to strengthen identification and stewardship.
- Ensure long–term maintenance of trees, including watering during dry summers, to secure their growth and resilience.
