In her master thesis, Victoria Pasternak from INFRASTRUKTUR & UMWELT Professor Böhm und Partner is looking at key factors to develop industrial and business areas in a way that they comprehensively emphasise sustainability in urban development. Today, in an online roundtable with IB-Green partners, such as Lisa Puissant (Lille European Metropolis), Anna-Christine Sander (Hessisches Landesamt für Naturschutz, Umwelt und Geologie), as well as Fernanda Pinto Godoy and Ger Corbett (both Sandyford Business District), we discussed about what the future role of IBPs should be. We are looking forward to reading the conclusions from Victoria's research project and seeing how to best use them for #IBGreen 👏 #climateadaption #climateresilience #environmentaljustice

🌍Of course, #IBGreen is not the only initiative tackling the challenge of #climateadaptation: The Covenant of Mayors - Europe's Policy Support Facility was launched by the European Commission as a two-year pilot programme to support local and regional authorities with developing and implementing adaptation measures. The final report “Building Resilience through Adaptation at the Local Level” has now been published: https://lnkd.in/eN5tHVjG. It includes a large number of local case studies from European municipalities for inspiration and is divided into the following four thematic priorities: financing, just resilience, nature regeneration and disaster risk reduction. ☀⛈ #climateadaptation #climateresilience #localaction

What does Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) project cooperation look like? Project meetings with all #IBGreen partners, like in Luxemburg (https://lnkd.in/esVH_vS4), but also #bilateralmeetings: In February, the muncipalities of Arnhem and Leeuwarden visited the industrial and business park “the Hemrik” in Leeuwarden together. They visited a company that is a forerunner in greening its own grounds and exchanged on climate adaptation policies with a special focus on industrial and business parks. 👍🚲 #InterregNWE #climateadaptation #IBPs #bluegreeninfrastructure

💡 Food for thought, and even more motivation to continue with IB-Green’s project activities: The European Environment Agency has published an European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA): https://lnkd.in/d-nzkgrv. The report identifies major climate risks for Europe, such as heat “in areas with a strong urban heat island effect (…)”, but also the risk of “[m]ore frequent and extreme weather events to Europe’s built environment and critical services”. The solution to addressing and reducing these climate risks in Europe? Who's ready to slide into the weekend with us? 🙋♀️ At our last #IBGreen project meeting in #Luxembourg, we visited the office of PositiveImpaKT in the Solarwind building in Ecopark Windhof. Dr. Jeannot Schroeder explained how climate mitigation and adaptation are being lived in the building, with measures that go from green facades and solar(-thermal) panels to upcycling for interior design and furniture. #InterregNWE #climateadaptation #businessparks #climateresilience #bluegreeninfrastructure

IB-Green meets again: Last week, IB-Green's 2nd project meeting took place in Luxemburg, hosted by our project partner, the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning (https://lnkd.in/eJCXGwVF). Highlights included using Sandyford Business District's "digital twin" and virtual reality technology to walk through an industrial and business park site, as well as visiting a best-practice example of adaptation measures implemented in an innovative office building. Big thanks to our organising partner for welcoming us so warmly in Luxemburg, as well as to all project partners for their contributions and active participation! 👏

🌧💧Heavy rainfall and flooding in different North-West Europe countries in the past weeks has tragically underlined how essential climate adaptation measures are to reduce the negative effects of climate change. IB-Green aims at implementing green and blue infrastructure in existing industrial and business parks, including rain management infrastructure, unsealed parking lots or construction of greenways and green roofs. https://lnkd.in/diKYsi8R
